Applications are invited for Locum Consultant Anaesthetist posts based at Ealing and Northwick Park/St Mark’s/Central Middlesex , part of the London North West Hospital Trust. The merger of Northwick Park/St Mark’s and Central Middlesex Hospitals with Ealing Hospital formed the Trust in 2014. These are primarily expansion posts, which will enhance the current service delivery. Our priority is to appoint the best possible consultant anaesthetists to join our friendly, collegiate and hard-working department.
The obstetric unit at Northwick Park Hospital has approximately 5500 births per year and the post holders will be responsible for the provision of both elective and emergency care for obstetric patients.
The post holders will be joining a team of 52 consultant anesthetists/intensivists providing anaesthetic services for theatres and other areas of the hospital in addition to the obstetric unit. The appointees to these vacancies will need to be willing / able to contribute to a future shared vision with colleagues across the other hospitals in London North West Healthcare.
Northwick Park is a very busy acute hospital. It is a regional centre for head and neck surgery, vascular and major gastrointestinal surgery. Out of hours cover is provided on a 1:10 on call rota(Northwick & Central Middlesex), which includes both first, and second on call responsibilities and provides cover for the general, theatre as well as obstetric services and the surgical HDU. The Ealing on call is 1:7, on call responsibilities and provides cover for the general and theatres. The successful appointees will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. They will be required to undertake management duties and work in a multidisciplinary team.
