London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust welcomes applications from people who wish to work part time or flexibly.

Applications are invited for two Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon vacancies with specialist interest in lower limbs (hips and knees), one position at Ealing/Central Middlesex and the other at Northwick Park / Central Middlesex Hospitals.

Each post is central to delivering effective patient care at the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust by providing a full emergency and elective service for orthopaedic patients.

These placements are part of the future shaping of the Orthopaedics Department and the continued development of a well-established, cohesive and forward thinking orthopaedic service.

Appointees shall join 20 full and part-time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons and 3 Associate Specialists responsible for the provision of elective and emergency services across the Trust. Flexibility and good team working skills are essential.

The successful applicants shall be expected to contribute to the core orthopaedic workload and participate in the on-call (including week-ends). NPH on-call rota is 1:8 and Ealing is 1:5.


Along with our existing team of 20 Consultants(full and part-time) across three sites, you will provide support to the current Orthopaedic service in General elective in lower limb and Trauma to our local population of approximately 500,000. There is an active Postgraduate teaching and research programme within the department and with 20 junior ( NPH/CMH) 15 (Ealing) and career grade medical staff you will be involved in the teaching programmes. The Trust are looking for individuals with forward thinking and innovative approach of improving patient pathway and an interest in advancing the principles of clinical governance and understanding of PROMs.  You will be involved in the on call rota, evening Trauma lists and fracture clinics and elective work.  You will be working cross site as all elective surgery takes place in our state of the Art laminar flow theatres at the Central Middlesex Hospital BeCAD theatres.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
