London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust welcomes applications from people who wish to work part time or flexibly.

Applications are invited for a Genetic Technologist to join the North West Thames Regional Genetics Laboratory, based in Northwick Park Hospital, Harrow. The post is full time for 6 months. The post holder will be involved in the processing of samples referred for molecular and cytogenetic investigations using a full range of techniques. You will join a friendly busy team of scientific, technical and administrative staff. Applicants will be expected to have a good basic education and a degree or equivalent in a biological science-based subject would be desirable plus experience of working in a diagnostic hospital laboratory. The post holder will on Agenda for Change Band 3 on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week). As a laboratory, we are committed to training and developing staff as well as the introduction of new services and technologies to supplement or replace existing methodologies.

The North West Thames Regional Genetics Laboratory is CPA accredited and provides a comprehensive diagnostic cytogenetic and molecular genetic service for the population of approximately 4 million within the North West Thames region.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
